UNREAL CO. TRANSPARENCY

An Unreal Co. cornerstone value

A food company is nothing without its customers, so we created this page to keep you updated on the issues you bring to our attention. We are a small company with big ambitions, and our customers are at the heart of everything we do;
so from all of us at Unreal Co.:

THANK YOU!

PLEASE NOTE: it will take some time for the improved recipes to replace existing products in-store.

Italian Beefy: Strong Flavour

 FIXED

A number of customers have reported the Italian Beefy as having an intense aroma with a bitter flavour. Some customers have also reported that the strong flavour/aroma becomes even stronger after cooking.

Unreal Co. Response
ROOT CAUSE:

Unreal Co. has carried out a thorough investigation of the Italian Beefy’s production line, and a problem was identified with a mixing machine that was not given sufficient time to mix the product’s ingredients thoroughly. This issue resulted in some products having a bland taste, while other samples were made with an abnormally high concentration of flavour which can be offensive to the customer’s palate.

SOLUTION:

All mixing machines have been audited and calibrated to ensure all flavours are mixed thoroughly and uniformly. The Italian Beefy burger will now have a smoother, and more consistent flavour and aroma regardless of batch, manufacturing date, or outlet where it is sold.

Production staff have been provided with more training for better quality control and to identify (and eliminate) any potential mixture issues as they arise.

Chick’n Products: Bland Flavour

 IN PROGRESS

“We enjoyed the pieces. Has a stuffing flavour. Schnitzel was a little bland but not bad.”

RELATES TO: Chick'n Range

(Chick'n pieces, schnitzels)

Unreal Co. Response

We appreciate that our customers have a varied range of tastes and preferences, and we work hard to create products that everyone can enjoy. This, unfortunately, is easier said than done; so when we create our recipes we keep our flavours on the ‘weaker’ side to avoid overwhelming customers with more sensitive palates.

While we cannot always get this right, we never rest and our recipes are continuously evolving. We constantly work towards improving our recipes based on the feedback we collect after our products reach the market. That’s why this piece of feedback will remain flagged as ‘in progress’.

Chick’n Range: Flavour Differences

 FIXED

Some customers who tried products in the new Chick’n range, have reported significant flavour differences between batches, and at times found the flavour to be completely different to their expectation.

(Chick'n pieces, burger, schnitzels, and nuggets)

Unreal Co. Response
ROOT CAUSE:

Due to a recent increase in production demand, some reside from our “beefy” flavouring was being passed onto the Chick’n production line, resulting in isolated cases of cross-flavouring.

SOLUTION:

Beefy and Chick’n production lines have been physically separated and scheduled at different intervals. This will ensure that each product line will be run with tighter control over the ingredients used, and no accidental cross-flavouring will occur. Customers will now be able to enjoy their favourite products with consistent flavour across the range.

We’re fully transparent about the negative feedback, but we also love celebrating happy customers. Every Yin needs a Yang.

Chick’n Range: Hot peppery flavour

 FIXED

Several customers who tried products in the new Chick’n range, have reported a strong (and almost spicy) pepper flavour.

(Chick'n pieces, burger, schnitzels, and nuggets)

Unreal Co. Response
ROOT CAUSE:

Since launching the new Chick’n range, we have identified many opportunities to resolve inconsistencies with the mixture of ingredients. The quantities of herbs and spices has not been uniform across all batches, which caused some products to have a much stronger peppery flavour that might be too hot for some customers.

SOLUTION:

All use of pepper in products that aren’t labeled as “Southern Spicy” (nuggets, schnitzel, and burger) has been reduced drastically. Pepper is now used purely as a balancing flavour and will no longer cause a hot, or spicy, mouth feel.
